Growing up, Lynda Shanell attended seven different schools and moved to ten different homes. She struggled through various experiences which, with the help of her parents and three sisters, she grew to overcome those challenges and become the studious, independent and ambitious person she is today.
Lynda Shanell graduated from Otay Ranch High School with high honors. She was a part of several clubs and organizations throughout her four years of high school such as the HIV Free Club, Best Buddies Club, Prom 2014 planning and organizing, and KORtv. Along with dedicating her time to these various organizations, she became president of her own club that she formed at Otay Ranch High School called Beauty Within. Her mission with the organization was to have a positive influence on young girls so that they stay in school and be confident and ambitious. She taught members of the club etiquette, runway walk, and communication skills.
Lynda Shanell also participated in Folklorico all four years of high school and was involved in gymnastics, cross-country, track and field. She continues to participate in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

She won Miss Covergirl 2011 for Quinceanera Magazine and she notes one of the biggest highlights was when she interviewed the American singer-songwriter, Prince Royce.
With all this, Lynda Shanell plans to take what she has learned in her personal life and take the most advantage in being Miss Teen California Latina 2015 by reaching out to teens as Lynda Shanell says, “education is key and confidence is a must and with that we may conquer the world.”
